Scrumptious Scotch Brownies

This recipe has filled our hearts and bellies for generations. We hope it does the same for you!

For Lauren Leithead, nothing defines holiday happiness like a warm batch of "Scotch Brownies," as her family calls them. The recipe, originated by Lauren's grandmother, is like nothing you'll find online. Resembling a thick chocolate and butterscotch cookie with a graham cracker crust, the desserts take inspiration from both classic brownies and blondies. It turns out the two are food cousins with their origins in gingerbread – making their ties to the holidays a natural one. In Lauren's family, "Scotch Brownies" are made every holiday season, and no matter how many come out of the oven, everyone fights over the last one.
