Make Each Moment Count
That’s our motto this season:
To celebrate (and elevate!) the everyday rituals just as much as the big traditions.
At The How Group, we spend each day focused on the importance of home. And at this time of year, the things that truly create that feeling of
“home”—things like family, lifestyle, traditions, togetherness—take on a new poignancy. Which is why we’ve resolved to be fully present and appreciate more of those everyday happenings, from sharing a meal to wrapping gifts or planning activities with our children. We’re optimistic about our ability to gather with our loved ones this year, so we’re planning to turn even the smallest of rituals into celebratory moments. And we’re hoping that our ideas spark some of your own.
Zhush Up Your Tabletop. Any meals turns into an occasion with the addition of extra greenery styled as a table runner, or by popping a sliced orange or spring of rosemary into your drink of choice. Light those candles too!
Plan a Wrap Party. Gift-wrapping shouldn’t be a secretive solo task; it’s so much more fun with a friend or family member. We say, break out the supplies— maybe a bottle of wine, too. And don’t underestimate the simple elegance of a present wrapped in brown kraft paper and kitchen twine, fancied up with a pinecone and an aromatic dried orange slice in lieu of a bow.
Treat The Birds. Send the kids out to collect pinecones, then have them smear them with peanut butter and roll them in bird seed. Hang them from a tree in your yard, and let the avian party begin.
Decorate—It’s an Instant Mood Booster. Toss a holiday- themed throw pillow onto your couch, wind a garland through your bannister, hang a ball somewhere other than on the tree. We love nabbing items from Terrain or Produce Junction, to get the whole family involved in brightening up our homes. Raise a toast and offer a “tour” when you’re done.
SHOP LOCAL Here’s a few of our favorite spots for gifts, decor and more: The Little Apple (Manayunk); Nest (Collegeville and Wayne); Vault and Vine (East Falls); Serendipity (Chestnut Hill); and Pineapple on Main (Doylestown).
